Kpop is booming, is an understatement to say the least. Therefore today your author is jotting down her personal unpopular opinions about this vivid industry. Again these are just my personal unpopular opinions which means this is not any hatred towards any group. You are completely free to agree or disagree. So what ya’ll waiting for?
- ‘LALISA’ was better than I expected and Lisa's vocals were much better than her performance of ‘say so’.
- ‘Gone’ and ‘On the ground’ by Rose(How do you do that accented ‘e’ in a keyboard?!) deserved much more appreciation.
- Siyeon of Dreamcatcher is one of the strongest female vocalist in kpop.
- YG is an ace in garnering the audience’s attention and JYP sucks at it.(Like who the hell spoils the entire chorus of the song and releases so many posters and sometimes gives bare minimum promotion !!)
- PNation is the best company for artists.
- ‘Permission to dance’ by BTS is not as bad as people say it to be.
- ‘Butter’ was better than ‘Dynamite’.
- Most kpop rappers are average at best.
- BTS, Stray kids have strong rap lines.
- Red Velvet and BTS are some of the most versatile kpop groups.
- Jisoo of Blackpink is my favourite visual in kpop.
- Jin was a good vocalist from the beginning of BTS’s career.
- Jimin and V have improved a lot in vocals.
- ‘Your eyes tell’ is one of BTS’s best song.
- ‘Signal’ by twice is a really catchy song which suffered from bandwagon hate.
- ‘More and More’ was a pretty good song but the audience had higher expectations after ‘Fancy’ and ‘Feel special’ and ‘More and More’ did not surpass it.
- Red Velvet has a strong vocal line, dance line and visual line but a weak rap line.
- IU and Sunmi are one of those few artists who have been in the industry forever but still have quality releases.
- IU’s songs succeed in building a connection with a listener.
- SM Entertainment is smart in handling Aespa.
- ‘Queendom’ was a good song but it did not match the Red Velvet standard.
- TXT has one of the best storyline, songs, concepts in fourth gen kpop and kpop in general.
- Aespa has a lot of potential to be the next big group.
- ‘Scream’ by Dreamcatchers was one of the best comebacks of 2020.
- Sexualization of minor idols is getting out of hand.
- Companies put a lot of effort in presenting their idols as bf/gf material. This is one of the reason why so many people are obsessed with idols and the genre.
- One reason for BTS’s extreme popularity is because they make genuinely good and relatable music.
- It is not okay to build your life around an idol. You have a life of your own to look after.
