Drugs and hearts

Oh yes darling, the fire was hot

flames wrapping their skeleton fingers around my-

No, not mine, your

your throat

but I couldn’t see the difference

we promised to our shallow hearts

and to the hearth that barely breathes

that we would stop our destruction

once and for all

put an end to the saga well into the hundredth page

but no, do not worry

because

we

got

this

together

the flames would soon get tired of licking

and soaking up our lives

it would be a dry mess, but one we need

then we’ll dance all over again

in our bare feet

staring at the extinguished pit and the lonely sky

as the fire awaits in the looming dark

waiting for a slip

waiting

waiting

Huh? does it think we’ll start all over again?

touch the needle again?

trip over the same rope again?

because, we won’t

look at us, staying 6 feet away

away from our doom in the trash can

the doom that’s calling me again

‘No’, I said to the faded voices starving to death

I won’t let the doom pierce me again

but the voices never stop

I am lost in a blinded fight with a broken shield and a bloody sword

but I don’t know where to swing, who to hurt

aimlessly trapped in the eerie night, someone calls me name

Doom rests it’s hand on my shoulder

and I place my head in it’s arms yet again

because

one more time isn’t going to hurt

right?

.

The fires chuckle in wonder and knowingness

It’s time again for its ambers to shed

to let the flames wrap their fleshy fingers

around the skeletal throat

all over again
